Production or Custom Retouching
What file format should I send?
This is largely a matter of
personal choice and the speed of your Internet connection. We'll
accept most common image file formats but prefer TIFF or JPEG.
Regarding the use of JPEGS: Many photographers would like to use
JPEG format because the smaller size transfers more quickly, but the
loss of quality when compressing to JPEG format is of great concern to
most professionals. The general consensus, however, is that the loss
is negligible as long as the file is not opened and resaved multiple
times, degrading the image a bit more with each successive action.
For that reason, we convert all JPEGs to PSD files upon opening them, and
they remain in the PSD
format until we are finished with them. At that time, we save them
to the server as JPEGs for you to download more quickly.

How should I name my files?
For production or custom retouching, use the naming convention
that works best for your own workflow. (For
restorations or all other decor images, please preface your file names with the three letter dealer
code you were assigned.)
When naming files, do not use
punctuation (periods or commas, etc) or the server may reject or rename
them, and please include the
appropriate file extension after the name (.tif, .jpg, etc.).

Do you outsource
any of the retouching?
All work is performed in house, either by Laurie Draper, or under her
direct supervision.

How will I know when my finished files
are ready to download?
When we've finished our work and
your order is ready for you to download to your computer from our server,
we'll email you. Your invoice will be attached to the email.

How long will my image files
remain on the server after they're done?
They'll remain on the server until
you upload new files, indicating to us that you've likely checked the
server for finished orders, or for five days, whichever comes first.
We archive all production and custom retouching orders for six months. If we remove your files from the server before you download
them, or if after you download them, your files become corrupted, you can
simply request that we upload them to the server for you again.
(After thirty days, we reserve the right to charge a retrieval fee to pull
the file and re-upload it.)
